If you drive a 996, 997, Boxster or Cayman you should seriously consider the IMS upgrade. Customers who have taken the time to read up on this subject will usually have us undertake the procedure almost immediately. An IMS failure is akin to a timing chain/belt breaking. The engine will loose its timing correlation resulting in a destroyed engine. If you aren't yet familiar with the IMS issue we suggest reading about it here: http://www.lnengineering.com/ims.html
As an approved LN Engineering IMS retrofit facility we possess the expertise and experience to properly and safely undertake this procedure with minimal down time, usually two business days. This is often combined with AOS and clutch replacement although not obligatory.
The pictures below demonstrate an actual procedure undertaken on a customers 996 with a 6-speed manual transaxle:

Subject Vehicle set up on lift: MY02 996 Aero Coupe

Oil leak due to compromised IMS bearing seal can easily be mistaken for a leaking RMS (rear main seal)

Transaxle removed exposing clutch assembly

IMS flange and RMS (rear main seal) exposed

Factory IMS bearing extraction

Factory bearing removed - IMS Shaft filled with oil confirming compromised IMS bearing seal

New LN Engineering single row IMS bearing pressed into shaft bore

New LN Engineering billet flange installed and torqued to spec
